Introduction
This project delivers an HR Analytics Dashboard in Tableau that transforms synthetic employee data into actionable people-insights. By generating an 8,000-row dataset with Python Faker and Claude prompts, modeling it for performance, and crafting focused dashboards with dynamic filters and rich visualizations, leadership gains on-demand clarity on attrition drivers and workforce composition eliminating manual reporting and accelerating retention strategies.
Process
Data Generation and Modeling
• Created an 8,000-row synthetic HR dataset using Python Faker and Claude prompts to mirror real-world employee attributes.
• Architected and optimized the data model in Tableau, defining dimension tables (Gender, Location, Employment Status, Hire Date) and fact tables (employee records) for fast query performance.Dashboard Configuration & Filtering
• Implemented global filters Gender, Location, Employment Status, and Hire Date to drive two complementary dashboards: a high-level KPI Trends view and a detailed Employee Roster.
• Configured context-aware actions so selections in one dashboard automatically update the other, ensuring seamless drill-through exploration.Visualization Design
• Built KPI cards for Active vs. Terminated headcount and Hiring vs. Termination trends.
• Designed department-level bar charts, geographic distribution maps, and tenure-to-salary scatterplots to surface patterns in turnover, compensation, and location.
• Employed color and layout best practices to highlight at-risk segments and support rapid root-cause analysis.Validation & Iteration
• Conducted data-quality checks by sampling records and verifying filter behavior across dashboards.
• Collected user feedback from HR and leadership teams to refine visual layouts, adjust date filter defaults, and enhance tooltip detail for key metrics.
Outcome
Manual Reporting Eliminated: Replaced multi-hour spreadsheet consolidations with instant, self-service dashboards.
Accelerated Analysis: Turnover root-cause insights surfaced in minutes rather than days.
Targeted Retention Strategies: Empowered leadership to identify high-risk cohorts and deploy focused interventions, driving measurable improvements in employee retention.
